Pathogenesis of Acute Diarrheal Disease.

摘要

The microflora at various sites in the alimentary tract of patients with acute and chronic diarrheal disease was compared with that in normal controls. The protocols included the search for frank pathogens and suspicious isolates as well as for subtle changes in the balance of microflora in the small bowel and feces of affected patients. Longitudinal studies were performed on normal subjects to test the stability of the microflora and on patients to relate shifts in microflora to changes in the clinical status.
