Upper Extremity Fungal Invasions Secondary to Large Burns.

Our experience with 15 cases of fungal invasion of burned upper extremities is presented. The clinical characteristics, the pathology, and the current treatment of this unusual (but potentially lethal) complication are detailed. In our series, 7 of the 15 patients died. Though retention of function is always a consideration, this disease must be treated by radical debridement-or ablation, if necessary-to save the patient's life. (Author)
