摘要

The porous nature of the case substrate emphasizes the possible importance of this problem in coating technology. Solvent containing poly-mer can penetrate some particularly porous substrate regions more readily than others thus creating uniformity problems via preferential resin absorp¬tion, etc. Reduction of the porosity of the substrate by closing the holes is equally objectionable because the pressure of the pores has been found es¬sential for proper ballistic performance especially as regards residue. Therefore two systems to prevent pore closing have been developed. Thus solventless coatings were considered to present a potentially viable alter¬native to solvent systems.
