摘要

The results of a design investigation into the optical system required to continually sun pump a satellite borne laser are presented. The design criteria were that the system be comprised of only spherical optics, be made as compact as possible, and correct for a 1/2 degree satellite tracking error. One design is presented which meets all design criteria. Another design investigates the possibilities of replacing all optical components with a Fresnel lens. Although this system could not simultaneously deliver the required power and correct for the 1/2 degrees tracking error, the necessary trade-offs needed for the simple lens system to work are presented.
