An Investigation for Improving Life of a High Power,Short Pulse,Dye Laser Pump Lamp.

摘要

The purpose of the program was to improve the useful life of a linear pulsed light source for pumping dye lasers. The lamp arc length was 2inches. The operating conditions were as follows:pulse length 2microsec pulse energy 4 J,pulse repetition rate 220 pps,desired useful life 8,000,000pulses. Performance data for a 'standard'lamp was established. The cathode and the method of operating the lamp appear to be the most important factors in extending lamp life. It was also found that a higher lamp fill pressure and a smaller diameter lamp bore improved the lamp output.
