Simultaneous measurements of multiple electrocardiographic leads were made to determine the spectral,spatial,and statistical characteristics of the electrocardiogram's predominant signal,noise,and interference components. A selective sampling technique,utilizing the isoelectric interval during the T-P segments,enabled the characteristics of the internally generated noise and external interference to be obtained independently of the heart signal.
