摘要

Phosphorescence of powdered monomeric polypeptide chains of collagen was induced by ultraviolet light at 277nm. The emission was single-banded (half band width of approx- 30nm) with a peak at 385nm. Powered human glycoprotein,when excited at 277nm,displayed a phosphorescent spectrum principally due to tryptophan residues (peaks at 413, 434and 470nm). The relative phosphorescent efficiency of glycoprotein was 4times that of collagen. Washed tendon from rat tails,excited at 280nm,and viewed at 425nm,showed spectra suggesting the presence of two discrete excited triplet states functioning without interaction.
