The report explains what fixed and fluidized beds are,where they are used and some of the basic concepts necessary to understand and in some cases model their operation. It is intended to explain enough about these systems so that their potential usefulness may be appreciated and harnessed,so that current state-of-the-art can be quickly reviewed and so that further interest can be satisfied by the references listed throughout the report.
