Lower Bounds for a Quadratic Cost Functional.

Lower bounds for a quadratic cost functional, applicable to certain optimal control problems, are derived. These bounds are tight, and are found to be useful in determining the quality of suboptimal controls. The use of a cost functional lower bound in the suboptimal control of a linear distributed parameter system is included. (Author)
