Spin-Orbit Interaction and Quenched Orbital Angular Momentum in V3Si.

摘要

The martensitic transformation temperature for a single crystal of V3Si in a high magnetic field has been determined as a function of field orientation. Interpretation of the results establishes limits on the magnitude of the spin-orbit interaction and indicates that the orbital angular momentum of the d electrons is quenched. (Author)
