摘要

The generation of short pulses at 10.6micrometer,basic properties of infrared lasers,and metal vapor lasers emitting in the blue-green were investigated. Significant developments include a Brewster angle acousto-optic modulator for high power mode-locking, a technique for pulse shaping based on gas breakdown,identification of gas breakdown as a limitation on high-pressure laser operation, a transverse-flow copper vapor laser operated at 50,000 pps,use of Ne as a buffer gas for high repetition rate copper vapor laser,and the absence of lasing from Bi vapor.
