Permittivity and Permeability of Metal Oxide Varistors:Their Effect on Applications of MOV's to Surge Suppression Connectors,

摘要

The feasibility of using metal oxide varistors in electromagnetic pulse surge suppression connectors is currently being investigated. Toward that end,dielectric constants of four varistor types are found to be between 700and 1000at 1kHz,decreasing by approximately 25percent at 65MHz. Dielectric constants as a function of temperature (-65to 165F) are also reported. When used as the suppression element in a type N coaxial connector,the large capacitance will limit transmission bandwidth to frequencies below 10MHz. (Author)
