摘要

The objective of this program was to determine and characterize the load-time response behavior of advanced graphite composites during an impact loading environment. Two basic graphite fiber orientations were evaluated;composites in which the filament repeating unit direction is (1) 0degree,and (2) 0degree + 45degrees, -45degrees, 90degrees. Hybrid configurations were also characterized. The hybrid configurations were fabricated using the basic graphite orientations with discrete amounts of supplementary third phase fibers added to the composites in 0degree and in +45degrees and -45degrees directions. The third phase fibers evaluated were glass yarn,nylon yarn and PRD-49Type III. Thin (0.080in.) composite test panels were made as well as thick (0.5in.) panels.
