Optimal Design of Acoustic Sonar Transducer Arrays.

摘要

A problem in engineering design is formulated and solved as a nonlinear optimization problem. The problem is to design an array of sonar acoustic transducers. Design parameters are the locations of the transducers,and their emplitude shading coefficients and their amplitude shading coefficients and phase delays. The objective is to choose values for these parameters so that the directivity pattern of the array has a narrow main lobe and minimal minor lobe levels. The problem is solved by an interior penalty function method. Results are presented which show significant improvement of the directivity pattern for two test problems. A final section discusses the effects varying the frequency of the incoming signal,and of steering the array. (Author)
