摘要

The report concerns the motion of gaseous cavities propelled through reagent-grade ethyl alcohol by an acoustic stationary wave. Specifically,the velocity of the cavities as a function of the acoustic pressure amplitude,the cavity radius,and the acoustic pressure distribution is examined. It was possible to measure this velocity as a function of position in the sound field and the acoustic pressure amplitude. The maximum cavity velocity and the normalized velocity profile was obtained for both the theoretical and experimental analysis of the translating cavity. A possible explanation is given for the unexpected translational motion of the cavities in terms of non-linear instability mechanism. (Modified author abstract)
