摘要

Several years of research at WEARSCHFAC on the hygroscopic clearing of warm fog are summarized in the report. The work is based almost entirely on results derived from computer simulation of the microphysical processes active in a warm fog. The results are of importance for two reasons. First they facilitate understanding of the basis for hygroscopic fog clearing. Secondly,they can be used as a guide for fog clearing in the field. Four basic fog processes are simulated by the model;namely,condensation growth,coalescence growth,vertical transfer by droplet fall velocity,and vertical turbulent mixing.
