PREDICTION TECHNIQUES FOR REFRACTION OF UNDERWATER EXPLOSION SHOCKWAVES:A SHIPBOARD COMPUTER

Because of the spatial and temporal variation of refractive conditions in the ocean, a capability is required for making on-board predictions of refractive effects on safe delivery ranges for submarine-launched nuclear weapons. The computer program (CARE) described in this report indicates the feasibility of such a shipboard prediction capability. The program can be converted for use on any multipurpose computer having a storage capacity of about l6K, which is well within the specifications for currently used Navy computers.
