Amides, Imides and Polymers by Transacylation in Melts and Solutions

This report covers investigations of the imidazole catalysed reactions of carboxylic acids with carbamates and specifically urethan. Possible reaction paths are discussed.nThe material balance of the reaction of Grignard reagents with ethyl N-methylcarbanilate has been determined as well as the distribution of the five products over a large range of starting material ratios. A unifying concept of the reactions of Grignard reagents With carbamates is developed and discussed.
