摘要

The interaction of molecular oxygen gas with a cleaned Fe(110) surface has been studied by a combination of static dosing and molecular beam dosing techniques. Results indicate that the initial adsorption process involves dissociative adsorption, following Langmuir-type kinetics. Initial sticking coefficient and saturation coverage are reported. Further oxygen uptake probably involves diffusion of iron atoms through the initial oxygen adlayer. Heating of the Fe(110) surface in oxygen results in an irreversible change in the nature of the surface. (Modified author abstract)
