摘要

In a recent publication Inokuti and McDowell have calculated the elastic electron-lithium cross section in- the energy range up to 50eV using a model based on a simple adiabatic 1/r to the 4th power polarization potential. At 50eV their cross section is almost an order of magnitude larger than that calculated in the close-coupling and Glauber approximations. By generalizing the model of Inokuti and McDowell in order to take account of non-adiabatic effects we show that allowance for such effects is very important indeed and leads to a result consistent with the close-coupling and Glauber approximations.
