Progress in three areas of vibrational spectra of nematic phases is described. These include the interpretation of lattice vibrations of nematogenic crystals, changes in the C-H stretches in the infrared spectrum near the nematic-isotropic transition, and the observation of infrared optical activity is twisted nematic phases.
