Mechanical Factors in Etiology of Osteoarthrosis.

摘要

The destruction of articular cartilage and ensuing joint degeneration appears to be impossible without the presence of repetitive or impulsive transarticular loading. In joint degeneration the key event in the progression of the disease appears to be stiffening of the subchrondral bone as a primary response to impulsive loading across the joint. The resulting decreased compliance amplifies both the static and dynamic loading of the cartilage and hastens the process of degeneration.
