摘要

An experimental study has been performed to measure the effect of a thin plasma layer upon the transmission characteristics of high power microwave transmission. A high performance shock tube which uses a conical-electromagnetic driver was used to generate the plasma using room air as the test gas. An X-band waveguide aperture antenna mounted in a ground plane and specially fabricated horn antennas were used to launch and detect the microwave signals. Thin plasma layers were cut from the shock-generated plasma using sharp-edged ground planes mounted inside the rectangular shock tube test section.
