摘要

This report presents the results of continued studies into the details of the aerodynamic processes which govern the operation of a Ludwieg tube transonic tunnel. Refinements in the configuration of the flow-conditioning channel (nozzle, test section and diffuser), which represent an improvement over a previous design are described. Detailed analyses of the starting process, ejector flap performance, and wall loadings during the starting process are covered. Emphasis has been placed on understanding and describing the fundamental mechanisms which govern the aerodynamic behavior such that meaningful performance estimates can be made for facilities of different size or slightly different configurations.
