MICROPROGRAMMED BENCHMARKS FOR THE MICRO-PROGRAMMED CONTROL UNIT OF THE AN/UYK-17 (XB-1) (V) SIGNAL PROCESSING ELEMENT

The AN/UYK-17(XB-1)(V) Signal Processing Element uses a Microprogrammed Control Unit (MCU) to control the other components of the Signal Processing Element, to format data for these other components, and to perform simple arithmetic calculations. Fourteen benchmark programs were written for an early model of the MCU and run on a simulator. As a result of coding and executing these programs, several changes were made in the MCU and Selector Channel Controller (SCC) designs.
