Optical Synthesis of Non-Linear Non-Monotonic Functions.

摘要

A large class of point non-linear functions can be achieved in parallel in a two-dimensional coherent optical processor. The technique uses preprocessing of inputs with special halftone screens; large dynamic range monotonic and non-monotonic functions are possible. The non-linearities can be smooth, discontinuous or both, and a synthesis procedure is given. Examples and experimental results are presented. (Author)
