Materials Research for Superconducting Machinery III.

摘要

The third semi-annual technical reports are collected from five subcontractors of an ARPA sponsored program on the very low temperature properties of structural materials to support the development of superconducting machinery. The program is outlined and research progress is reported. Low temperature data are presented for the elastic, tensile, fatigue, and fracture properties, thermal expansion, specific heat, thermal and magneto-thermal conductivity, electrical and magnetic properties of structural alloys. Effects of processing, and fabrication are also reported for many of the properties; weld and braze joint properties are included. Low temperature properties for composites are reviewed and limited tensile and flexure data at 4 K presented.
