This document summarizes a new technology developed explicitly for improved suspended sensor systems in the ocean. It describes briefly the systems approach, analytical techniques, synthetic strength members, cable construction, in-line sensors, fairing, buoyancy, end fittings, conductors, insulation bonding, and cost advantages currently being utilized for improved performance, versatility, and reliability at lower overall cost. It is based on the more detailed information presented in The Cable Development Program for Suspended Applications, NUSC Technical Report 4915, 22 September 1975. (Author)
