The Fraction of Collected Charge Carried by Unattached Electrons in Small,Air-Filled Ionization Chambers,

摘要

An analysis has been performed of the fraction of negative charge carried by electrons in small,air-filled ionization chambers with parallel-plate,cylindrical and spherical geometries. For chambers whose gap widths are on the order of millimeters,filled to a pressure of about 1atmosphere,and with applied polarizing voltages of several hundred volts,it is found that nearly all of the collected negative charge carriers are unattached electrons.
