Stresses in An Adhesive Bonded Composite-to-Metal Assembly.

An in-house program was initiated in order to demonstrate the engineering feasibility of the use of boron/epoxy composites to add stiffness to metallic structural components. The program was designed to determine the level of the stresses induced in the boron epoxy (B/E) composite, the 321 stainless steel substrate and in the structural adhesive joining the two adherends.
