摘要

Terrain corrected point free-air gravity anomaly data, covering a 2 degree x 2 degree zone in the Redondo Peak region of New Mexico, has been used to calculate a gridded set of gravimetric height anomalies (zeta) and deflection of the vertical components (xi, eta) within a 100 km x 100 km area centered in the zone. Terrain corrections within this zone attain values of up to 32 milligals, causing resultant zeta, xi, eta values to differ by as much as 0.4 meters, 1.8 seconds and 2.1 seconds, respectively, from corresponding values calculated using the classical Stokes and Vening Meinesz equations. These results show the significance of using modern methods for calculating gravimetric parameters in mountainous regions. A discussion of data development and of the computation procedures used is included in the paper, along with some theoretical considerations on the use of modern gravimetric methods.
