摘要

The interaction and decomposition of HCOOH with Ni(100) as well as the interaction of H2, CO and CO2 with Ni(110) has been studied. The rate of decompositon of HCOOH has been related to the interaction of the decompositon products. Sticking coefficients, binding energies and reaction orders have been measured. Auger Electron Spectroscopy has been used to identify the composition of the surface and the decomposition and desorption kinetics has been analyzed using the technique of flash desorption. The present results are compared with earlier studied on the HCOOH decomposition kinetics for Ni(110) and it is shown that the decomposition of HCOOH on clean nickel surfaces gives a rather striking example of the 'geometric effect' in catalysis.
