Iterative Solution of Linear Systems Arising from Finite Element Techniques.

This paper describes some work which is being done at The University of Texas at Austin on iterative methods for solving large systems of linear algebraic equations. Particular emphasis is given to linear systems with sparse matrices such as those which arise in the numerical solution of elliptic partial differential equations by finite difference methods or by finite element methods.
