A Continuously Variable Delay-Line System.

A voltage-controlled continuously variable delay-line system with a bandwidth of 10 MHz and a differential delay of 30 microsec has been developed. Similar systems, which employ a pair of cascaded dispersive delay lines, have been previously described but have found limited use because of the lack of high-quality large-time-bandwidth-product dispersive delay lines. Reflective-array compressors (RAC's) are particularly well suited for meeting this requirement.
