Survey of New Sorbents for Application to Protection Devices.

摘要

The purpose of this study was to update and bring to the forefront a survey of sorbents for application to protection monitoring and detecting devices. Because of the ever-increasing need for protection from contaminated airstreams and the broad scope of its applications,collaborative research between the United States and the United Kingdom will be carried out to review and correlate past and present developments in the adsorbent field. Sorption is a basic requirement for respiratory protection (mask),protective clothing,collective protection,decontamination and detection,and monitoring of unpurified air. Such collaborative research would be profitable in leading towards effective but simpler forms of chemical protection. In accordance with the purpose of this survey a comprehensive search of the literature on sorbents was undertaken. Concurrently,an analysis was made of the characteristics of those protection devices which use sorbents as the air purification media. Such an approach allows the investigators to delineate needs and deficiencies,to highlight what is available,and to recommend options for improvement.
