A new synthetic method for the preparation of high molecular weight fluorocarbon ethers has been developed; polyethylene oxide was caused to react with elemental fluorine under conditions carefully regulated to fragment and perfluorinated the polyether system and yield a number of new fluorocarbon ethers.
