A Study of the Effectiveness of Symposia for Transferring Technical Information to Applied End Use.

A program is designed for the transfer of technology from the Navy's research effort to other potential users. This program uses the technical symposium as the basic mechanism for transfer, drawing on the technological resources of research organizations and the perceived needs of the user community. It is designed to communicate technological information, to develop a mutual appreciation of each other's problems and to establish communications among all participants in the technology utilization process. A plan is developed for a technology transfer symposium in the field of Communications Electronics based on promising research efforts in this field performed at the Naval Postgraduate School. This symposium is proposed as the prototype vehicle for the Navy's Technology Transfer Symposium Program. Lastly, a technique is developed for measuring the effectiveness of the symposium program utilizing feed back from preceding symposia so that the format of the Technology Transfer Symposium Program can be optimized.
