On Intubation in Wounds in the Major Arteries (Del'intubation dans les Plaies Grosses Arteries).

The report discusses intubation material for blood transfusion. A tube with extremely thin walls, silver-coated and passed through paraffin, permanently, at least for a long time, ensures circulation in its interior. In case of an arterial wound, it would be sufficient to link the two segments which were separated by one of these tubes in order to achieve the temporary restoration of circulation. The instruments require the same care when it comes to the application of the cannula as in the case of transfusion, that is to say, its exact adaptation into the vessel, without interposition of foreign bodies and especially conjunctive tissues. The material necessary, in addition to this cannula, involves a Ringer solution, vaseline oil, and as many fine forceps (clamps) as possible.
