On the Evaluation of Biological Hazards and Competing Risks.

This report is an expanded version of some extemporaneous remarks at the end of a meeting held at the Inst. for Energy Analysis, Oak Ridge Assoc. Univ. Oak Ridge, Tennessess, Sep. 7-8, 1977. It is difficult to find a biological basis for the competing risk model and potential lifetimes but an effort is made in this paper. Clifford's results on illness and death models are described. Miscellaneous remarks are made on several other related topics.
