Frequency Dependence of Impulse Noise Attenuation.

摘要

Attempts have been made to use a single auditory value of attenuation to assess the hazard to hearing from exposure to high intensity impulse noise and to establish maximum allowable impulse noise exposure levels. This procedure ignores the interaction of the attenuation characteristics of the hearing protector and the energy density spectrum of the impulse. This report demonstrated that errors as large as 17 dB can result from failing to account for this interaction. (Author)
