Method of Obtaining Rat and Primate Glomeruli.

Explants of rat and primate glomeruli were developed to conduct metabolic, immunologic, histologic, fibrinolytic, and electron microscopic studies in tissue culture and to study progressively these cell lines. Seventy-five to 90% glomerular viability in tissue culture was required. The glomeruli were adherent within 3 days and cell proliferation was noted within 7 days. Freshly prepared Lewis rat and baboon kidneys were used. (Author)
