Selective Feedback as a Training Aid to On-Line Tactical Data Inputting.

Training as Message Input Output Device (MIOD) operators was given to 53 Army enlisted personnel under one of four training methods that were based on different instructional strategies. Performance of each participant was assessed during training and under one of two operational configurations of the Tactical Operations System (TOS). Results showed that the response-sensitive training strategy was effective in reducing training time without loss of performance accuracy during transfer-testing. None of the training methods signficantly reduced the amount of undetected errors that enter the system through manual data entry. (Author)
