Paleontologic Response to Post-Jurassic Crustal Plate Movements in the Arctic Ocean.

摘要

The organisms of the central Arctic Ocean show close relationship to crustal plate motion that produced Pacific and then Atlantic connections during the past 81 million years. Some 115 paleontologically significant species have been identified in the modern Amerasian Basin. Most benthic Foraminifera and ostracodes appear to be endemic. The Arctic ecosystem is young but 50% of the modern paleontologically significant benthos, are composed of 4 species. (Author)
