Effects of Prebuckling Displacements on Stringer Stiffened Axially Loaded Cylindrical Panels.

The effects of straight-edge boundary conditions,stringer eccentricity,and prebuckling effects are studied for a wide variety of cylindrical shell panels under axial compression. Two prebuckling boundary conditions were used along the straight edges: CC3and CC1for clamped panels,and SS3and SS1for simply supported panels. Four buckling boundary conditions are considered for the clamped panels and four buckling boundary conditions are considered for the simply supported panels. The panels were stiffened with both internal and external arbitrary smeared stringers. The study was made using the STAGS computer code,utilizing the linear bifurcation branch with linear prebuckling displacements and smeared stringers. Results are presented that compare the buckling loads for different prebuckling boundary conditions,compare the effects of eccentricity,and compare the effects of prebuckling with comparison made to panel buckling loads without prebuckling displacements.
