Spaceborne Intensifier Radiometer for Imaging Ultraviolet Spectroscopy (SIRIUS).

SIRIUS is a program acronym for a portable Spaceborne Intensifier Radiometer for Imaging Ultraviolet Spectroscopy. The program is a phased continuation of the feasibility effort conducted for the Air Force and reported in the classified (Confidential) Technical Report AFAL-TR-69-331,dated January 1970. The specific objective of the current program was the development of a brassboard model SIRIUS,incorporating a number of improvements not available in the feasibility model. The major improvements are the use of a completely reflective,wide band,ultraviolet lens;the inclusion of a rapid-change image intensifier plug-in-module;the elimination of the Hasselblad camera body;the capability to use unmodified Hasselblad film magazines;and an improved film transport system. The report provides a basic description of the SIRIUS brassboard camera system,operating instructions,and a description of all component sub-systems,supported by separate component part photographs.
