摘要

Weldments of technical-grade titanium and some of its alloys can have lower mechanical properties in the weld-affected zone as a result of structural transformations. According to data provided by a number of authors, sections of the weld-affected zone heated in the process of welding to temperatures above polymorphous transformations Ti-alpha to Ti-beta develop grain growth and the metal in this zone after cooling off may show lower plasticity. The strength properties of the metal in this zone either increase somewhat (at high cooling rates) or decrease (at low cooling rates).
