摘要

A fast,electrostatically focused photomultiplier tube has been developed for optical communications applications. The new photomultiplier is designated the RCA C31050and has a GaAsP (Cs) photocathode for use at 532nm. Three GaP(Cs) dynodes provide gains exceeding 10,000. A coaxial anode output structure is employed which operated without bias. Pulse testing of the C31050 (at the ADP/405B Space Data Relay/Laser Communications group facilities) indicated a 10-19% rise time of 325ps, a 90-10% fall time of 325ps,and a FWHM of 480ps. The FWTM was 840ps. Details of design are given in the text. (Author)
