Examples of Rate-Theory Constitutive Equations Which Unify Elasticity and Plasticity.

Examples of rate theory types of constitutive relations are developed which allow as solutions both elastic and plastic stress-strain relations. Elastic behavior is associated with uniqueness of solutions and plastic behavior with non-uniqueness of solutions of ordinary differential equations. Transition from one elastic solution to another elastic solution through a plastic solution allows the description both of loading and unloading by the same set of constitutive differential equations.
