A Componential Interpretation of the General Factor in Human Intelligence

This chapter presents a componential interpretation of the general factor (g) in human intelligence. The article is divided into five parts. First, we present a brief summary of some of the evidence that can be adduced in support of the existence of a general factor in human intelligence. Second, we present an overview of our beliefs regarding the nature of g, and state why we believe it is adequate to the problem, at least at one level of analysis. Third, we describe our present research approach. Fourth, we present evidence supporting our views regarding the nature of g. Fifth, we summarize the main points of our argument. (Author)
