摘要

It appears that underflow tar from an acetone - Chanel - ammonia organosoly puling run is potentially useful as a low percentage additive to petroleum refinery feed. Although this material has a slightly lower heating value and higher viscosity than do many crude oils, it is a relatively low distilling mixture, based on compound volatility in gas chromatographic tests. Although the high lignin tar has some mutagenic activity, us measured with the Salmonella histidine reversion, or Ames, test procedure, the activity is around two orders of magnitude less than that of coal derived fuel oil. This indicates a potentially lower level of hazard for organosoly tar than for refined coal Fuel oil. These findings indicate that those organizations considering the use of an organosoly pulping process should reevaluate fin al use t the tar in the light of rising petroleum feedstock costs.
